New Orleans Super Bowl Observation

I will admit from the start that I am a Colts fan, and that being the case I am quite sure this will come across as sour grapes. But I assure you it is not, the Saints played better than the Colts and deserved to win.

That being said, I must vent that I am so sick of hearing about how much the city of New Orleans deserved this win. How far from the truth can that be? I heard this morning on a radio show a comment, and I am paraphrasing, "After all that city has been through, they deserved this win." when I heard that I almost had an accident as I spit my coffee and almost drove off the road. I am sure that I am not alone when I say that New Orleans does not deserve that victory any more than any other city, moreover I will make the argument that if anything they deserve it less than any other city.

Sure they were devastated after the hurricane, when you build a city below sea level, are you surprised when it floods? I think the mayor and most of its citizens were. Common sense aside here, if you build your city below sea level, and you are living on the coast, IT IS GOING TO FLOOD! why does the obvious have to be pointed out to the residents of Louisiana? I guess the inbreeding has really gone a-muck and the brain cells are not firing on all cylinders. Or rather their jumbayla isn't quite done. And what's worse, in my opinion is that our federal government, spent 180 Million dollars rebuilding a ball field rather than rebuilding homes. We are continuing to pump billions of dollars into a city that is sitting down there with their hands stuck out, still building below sea level. Where is the logic in this. what a better time to MOVE the city than after it was destroyed and millions were relocated. Move the entire city inland to a point above sea level. I have not done the financial study on this, but it would have to be less expensive to move the city, new developments inland than to rebuild where they are. But our government does not work on common sense it works on illogic and knee jerk emotions. Meanwhile after 4 years, billions of dollars the city is mostly still just piles of garbage, abandoned houses, and wasted funds. When will the insanity stop?

I know the answer to that - it wont, the stupidity of our government on both sides of the aisle is legion, and as long as the presses are working they will continue to print money and throw it away in black and gold holes in Louisiana, Los Angeles, Brooklyn, etc, etc, where ever there are generations of handouts, we will continue to hand out to the lazy, the indecent, the run down thug-villes all across this land. All while hard working individuals are doing without. While families in Appalachia are struggling to eat, we build football stadiums. While seniors are living off dog food we pump billions into city trashed by their own citizens. While families loose their homes to failed banks, we pump billions into the hands of corrupt politicians.

I am not so naive to believe its not going to stop. But lets just say it for what it is, the Saints beat the Colts and they deserved to win the game. But nothing in that victory ever implies that the city of New Orleans deserves the victory, if anything they should be ashamed by how they have responded to the aftermath of the storm. New Orleans is an embarrassment to our country.
