Mark Sanford

I watched with many others the press conference yesterday our Governor's press conference. I was saddened at his announcement, not for our state, but for him and his family. I saw a man hurting and ashamed. I saw a man who sees mistakes he's made and wants to correct them but is afraid of how to do it, I saw a man who seeks and needs forgiveness.

As a christian and citizen of South Carolina, I willingly accept his apology and offer forgiveness, not that i feel that i need to give him my forgiveness, he hasn't harmed me, he hasn't hurt me, but he needs to know he's forgiven.

I pray for Gov. Sanford and his family, I pray the media spotlight will subside and allow this family to heal and move forward. I pray the vultures of the press will for once use their discretion and allow them to move forward in what ever way they can.

We are taught not to compare sins, and not to point out the splinter in our neighbor's eye, while ignoring the log in our own eye. Whom am I to condemn, I too am a sinner, and we should rejoice that God does not distinguish between sins, that's what we do. What Gov. Sanford did was wrong, he admitted that. But he did come clean - as far as we know, and for me that's enough. Recently we had a president (Clinton) who in my estimation did far worse........the media protected him and his family. I hope they will protect Gov. Sanford and his family during this time.

Gov. Sanford is an honorable man who made a terrible mistake, he is accepting responsibility for his sin, God offers forgiveness, so therefore I must also. I will pray for Gov. Sanford to find peace and healing. i will pray that his wife and sons also find peace and healing. May God bless them as they go through this horrific time.
